We Have Answers

Direct Primary Care (DPC)

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

DPC is a membership model where you pay a simple monthly fee for unlimited access to your physician, without insurance hassles or hidden charges.

Do you take insurance?

No. We work directly with patients. You can still use insurance for services outside our clinic such as specialists, hospitals, or emergency care.

Can I still keep my insurance?

Yes. Many patients keep a high-deductible or catastrophic plan for major events but use DPC for everyday care.

What's included in my membership?

All office visits, most in-office procedures and tests, 24/7 communication with your physician, and same- or next-day acute appointments.

How often can I be seen?

As often as needed; there are no limits on visits.

Do you provide vaccines?

We carry the annual flu vaccine and adult Tdap booster. For other vaccines, the most cost-effective option is the Tennessee Health Department.

Do you charge more for patients with chronic health problems?

No. Membership fees are based on age only, not health status.

How do I pay?

Membership fees are billed monthly. You pay automatically through auto-charge using credit, debit, or ACH bank draft. Any medications, labs, or equipment are added to your monthly bill.

Do I pay every month even if I don't come in?

Yes. Like a gym membership or a Netflix subscription, the value is in having access whenever you need it. Patients with a primary care physician often save 30% or more on healthcare overall.

What if I need hospital or emergency care?

You will need insurance for hospitalizations. You are not limited in hospital choice, and your doctor will coordinate with hospital physicians and follow your care. For emergencies, call 911 first, then contact us so we can help with coordination and follow-up.

What about my medications?

We dispense many medications at wholesale prices through our on-site pharmacy, often far less than retail or insurance copays. You may also continue using your regular pharmacy if preferred.

Are you insurance?

No. We provide medical care, not insurance. Membership may pair well with a high-deductible plan but does not replace insurance.

What insurance plans do you accept?

None. That’s how we keep costs transparent and care personal.

How do I cancel my membership?

While we hope that we can provide care to you and your family for many years to come, we do understand that needs and circumstances change. We simply require a 30-day notice to cancel. Please email your physician directly or info@hitchcock.md to let us know.

Pharmacy

Do you accept insurance?

No. We provide medications at transparent, wholesale pricing, often 70–90% less than insurance copays or chain pharmacy prices.

Do I need to be a patient of Hitchcock Family Medicine to use the pharmacy?

No. The pharmacy is open to everyone.

How do I get my prescriptions?
  • Pick up at our Hixson location during business hours
  • Pick up from our 24/7 secure pickup lockers at our Hixson location
  • Shipping to your home (in states where we are licensed)
Do you stock all medications?

We stock most common generics. If we don’t carry a medication, we’ll help you source it affordably. At this time, we do not carry controlled or compounded medications.

Can my doctor send prescriptions directly to you?

Yes. Any licensed prescriber can send prescriptions electronically.

Imaging (Radiology)

Do I need to be a Hitchcock Family Medicine patient?

No. Imaging is open to everyone. Patients from any provider, employer groups, and the public are welcome.

What imaging do you provide?

X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds.

Do you accept insurance?

No. We are cash-only, which allows transparent and significantly lower pricing compared to hospital rates.

Do I need an order for imaging?

Yes. All imaging requires a provider order. We coordinate directly with your provider.

What if my provider is outside Hitchcock Family Medicine?

That’s no problem. We accept all outside orders and send results back to your provider.

Can I get my images and reports?

Yes. Patients may request digital copies, and providers can access studies through our secure web viewer.

Employer & Benefit Plans

Can we use just one service (like pharmacy) without the others?

Yes. Each service can be used independently, but the greatest savings and impact come when DPC, Imaging, and Pharmacy are combined.

How does this save our company money?

By removing insurance middlemen, we dramatically reduce the cost of primary care, prescriptions, and imaging. This lowers ER visits, specialist referrals, and downstream claims.

Can you customize a plan for our employees?

Absolutely. We design plans around your company’s needs and budget.

Do you work with self-insured employers or captives?

Yes. We specialize in self-insured groups and captive models, but can also add value to level-funded or traditional setups.

How does pharmacy coverage work for employers?

Options include:

  • Employer covers all generics
  •  Employer subsidizes certain categories
  • Employees pay cash wholesale pricing directly

We can also provide a pharmacy spend audit to highlight savings opportunities.

Can I get my images and reports?

Yes. Patients may request digital copies, and providers can access studies through our secure web viewer.
