Why Did We Start Hitchcock Family Medicine?
The business of medicine has become too complicated. We believe healthcare should be simple, transparent, and built around people. Rather than wait for someone else to fix it, we decided to build a better way ourselves.
By removing the insurance companies and third-party interest middlemen, we’ve created a space where patients and employers can access high-quality care at clear, affordable prices. Our mission is to bring humanity back to healthcare, one relationship at a time.
Our Mission
We partner directly with individuals to restore trust, simplicity, and humanity in healthcare while prioritizing well-being above all else.
Our Vision
To build a future where physician-led, insurance-free care is personal, transparent, and empowering — transforming the well-being of individuals and communities nationwide.

Learn MoreOur Story: Making Healthcare Personal Again
Join us on a journey through Hitchcock Family Medicine’s history, where each milestone marks our commitment to bringing back personal, patient-focused healthcare.
Hitchcock Family Medicine was founded to create a new standard in primary care, one built on trust, time, and relationships. We set out to offer patient-focused, unhurried healthcare without the interference of insurance middlemen.
We welcomed Dr. Ashley Sanders, a board-certified internal medicine physician with a strong background in military medicine and a passion for patient-centered care. Her arrival strengthened our ability to deliver unhurried, relationship-based healthcare.
Dr. Todd Torbett, an experienced internal medicine physician, joined Hitchcock Family Medicine. His commitment to accessible, personalized care further expanded our reach in the Chattanooga community.
To meet increasing demand, we opened our Eastgate location. This expansion allowed us to care for more families while preserving the same values of direct, patient-focused care.
We welcomed Dr. Robby Eskridge, PharmD, to lead and manage our in-office dispensing program. His expertise streamlined medication access for patients and laid the foundation for our pharmacy’s future growth.
We moved into a larger, modern facility in Hixson. This new space provided room for additional physicians, an expanded pharmacy, and our own imaging center, offering affordable X-rays, ultrasounds, and CT scans under one roof.
With the addition of radiologist Dr. Neil Patel, our imaging center officially opened to serve Hitchcock Family Medicine patients, providing convenient, affordable diagnostic care directly within our clinic.
With patient growth continuing, we welcomed Dr. Michael Shepherd, an experienced family physician, to our team. His addition helped us meet the needs of more families seeking accessible, relationship-based care.
Hitchcock Family Pharmacy became fully licensed to serve the entire community, not just Hitchcock Family Medicine patients. This step allowed us to provide transparent, wholesale-priced medications to families and employer groups across Tennessee and beyond.
With approval from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, we launched our 24/7 prescription pick-up locker pilot project, giving patients the freedom to collect medications at any time, even after hours or on weekends.
We secured a Certificate of Need (CON) for our imaging center, with unanimous approval from the state board. This milestone marked the start of the transition from an internal service to a fully licensed outpatient imaging center serving the broader community.
We welcomed Dr. Erik Ewing, a board-certified family physician, to address growing demand. His arrival reflects our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, personal healthcare for families across Chattanooga.
Our 24/7 prescription pick-up locker pilot project, first launched in August 2024, was officially extended by the state Board of Pharmacy for two more years. This extension reflects the success of the program and our commitment to making medication access simple, convenient, and patient-focused.
Hitchcock Direct Imaging officially became licensed as an Outpatient Diagnostic Center. This milestone allows us to expand our services beyond our DPC patients and serve the entire community with transparent, affordable imaging. It marks a new chapter in making high-quality diagnostic care more accessible in Chattanooga.
What started as one small clinic is becoming a movement. Our vision is a future where every community has access to healthcare that is simple, direct, and free of barriers. For us, growth is about more than expansion. It is about restoring trust and humanity to healthcare for generations to come.
